چکیده

Background: Diffuse pigmented villonodular synovitis (DPVNS) of the knee is a difficult tumor to eradicate, gold standard treatment has traditionally been surgical excision with total synovectomy affected joint, either an open or arthroscopic approach. In this study, we are focusing on synovectomy. Objectives: Aimed study outcome for diffuse in Haj Alsafi Teaching Hospital. Methodology: Observational retrospective hospital-based performed Orthopedic Department, 12 patients (8 males and 4 females) form PVNS were enrolled after qualification. The clinical diagnosis was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging post-surgical histo-pathological examination. All underwent complete through anterior, medial lateral, then medial, lateral suprapatellar posteromedial portals. Each patient evaluated before followed up minimum 18 months (range: – 54 months) using Lysholm score International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score. Results: average age group (9–63years) male predominance (66.7 %). Left more frequently (58.3%). None participants had previous history 100%. Both IKDCscores significantly improved all participants. Regarding paired sample statistics, mean preoperatively postoperatively from 54.9 to77.9. Recurrence reported one participant (8.3%). There statistical association between pre post-operative LYSHOLM IKDC scores recurrence, hence p-value =0.000. Conclusion:Arthroscopic appropriate DPVNS good functional low recurrence rate.

Studies published in MEDLINE between January 2010 and October 2013 were reviewed to compare open with arthroscopic synovectomy for pigmented villonodular synovitis of the knee in terms of rates of recurrence, complication, and osteoarthritis. 10 studies specifically on this topic were analysed; all were retrospective case reports, and thus level of evidence was low. Respectively after open and ...
